No doubt that these are tough times at Telos and the crypto industry as a whole - and survival is in no way guaranteed. Those that do survive will be the blockchains that can most quickly adapt to the changing landscape.
I believe that scrapping Arb is the first step to de-risking Telos and reducing costs going forward. 💪
When I say costs, I mean the actual cost of running the system and time costs in the establishment and monitoring. By previous comments here and thumbs up - I am not the only one. For those who feel the same way, I would encourage you to vote ‘No’ now to the Amend proposal - just a couple of hours to go.
However, this is but only one change that we should make at this time. The next change required is incentivisation.
At present there is little incentive to accumulate TLOS. We should be striving for the opposite. We should seek to make TLOS a truly valuable utility token.
So how do we start on this? Well we start on the ground level - with the BPs.
BPs need to be incentivised to hodl their rewards. But even more than this - BPs need to be rewarded for accumulating TLOS.
So in the interest of gauging the temperature for change here at Telos Governance - I put forward to you some of my recent discussions, which include:
1. BPs should be required to hold a minimum TLOS self-stake - say 50,000 TLOS; and / or,
2. BPs should be holding a minimum of delegated stake - say 250,000 TLOS - to encourage BPs to liaise with community members and seek sponsorship.
3. BPs should receive individual bonus votes (to their BP account only) from their self-stake and delegated staked TLOS.
4. BP pay scales should be redesigned to encourage BPs to work and save, so as to move up the pay scale.
The advantages of these initiatives include: an immediate demand for TLOS tokens; incentivisation for the accumulation of TLOS tokens; and, a greater level of communication between BPs and the communities. Along with a bit of friendly competition.
The main disadvantage - a BP without a TLOS stash may no longer qualify as paid BP. Unfortunately, this is the time we have come to. Get some skin in the game - or sit on the sidelines.
The good news - TLOS is the cheapest it has been in a couple of years. Now would be the perfect time for any BP to boost their holdings.
I advise that recent discussions on this matter with various community members have all been positive. As such I will be pushing hard to see an incentive plan along the lines of the above implemented. And sooner rather than later.
Now your thoughts please. 🙏
